Kebla

Ava, 10, Coventry, RI

Ally loved her house and her state. She lived in Florida. The only thing she didn’t like about Florida was that it got a lot of tornadoes and hurricanes. Today she was home alone watching TV when she saw a tornado alert.

Oh no! Ally thought. Mom and Dad will have to stay put, and I’ll be alone in a tornado!

Ally got very scared and ran into her room. She stayed in there for about 2 hours when the winds picked up and her house was picked up! She looked out the window and saw people inside the tornado! She was inside the tornado!

Ally got her pet bunny out of her cage and held on tight to her. “Cotton! We’re in a tornado!” Ally said to the bunny. Cotton hopped over to her cage, which had fallen on the ground, and got some carrots. “Cotton! Get over here, quick!” Ally shrieked. She reached for her phone but realized it was dead and she couldn’t call anyone.

Ally was spinning around for what felt like hours! Her watch told her it had been 1 hour. Ally was very tired, and she decided she would go to sleep. She woke up 3 hours later and was still spinning. All of a sudden, her house dropped onto the ground.

“Look Cotton, we’ve stopped spinning!” Ally said excitedly. She stepped out of her house with Cotton in her arms, expecting to see the farm she was growing up on, but instead she saw a land with purple grass and green clouds and an orange sky. There were strange little people that had blue spiky hair and wore office outfits walking around. The land seemed to go on for miles. Ally got out and ran over to a lady with very spiky hair and a blue button-down shirt with a tan skirt and a navy cardigan.

“Excuse me! Where am I?” Ally asked.

“Kebla,” the lady answered and walked away.

“Kebla?” Ally asked herself.

“Yes, dear. Kebla,” someone said.

“Ah!” Ally jumped.

“I am Elanor Fig, and I am the queen of Kebla,” Elanor Fig said.

“How did I get here?” Ally asked.

“Well, the tornado dropped everyone at the edge of your dimension and dropped you into our dimension instead of yours.”

“How is there another dimension?” Ally asked.

“I’m not sure, I just know it was here when I came. You see, the Keblans didn’t have much before I ruled, and when I came, I gave them everything they wanted! They made me their queen, so I rule here forever,” Elanor explained.

“But why am I here?” Ally asked again. “To prove yourself worthy of the Keblans,” replied Elanor.

“How do I prove myself?”

“Make them something extraordinary that they can keep, and they will send you back to that earth place of yours,” Elanor said.

What would I make these guys? Ally thought.

“Let’s go get you a room in the castle,” Elanor said, leading Ally west.

Ally got settled in her room. It had a big canopy bed with a couch near the window and a big dresser with jewelry and a closet with nice clothes. Ally sat on her bed and looked out the window to find some inspiration. The next day Ally had the answer.

“I can make them different outfits to see if they like other clothes!” Ally said excitedly. She went into the sewing room and started making dresses and shirts and other assortments of clothes. She finished 12 shirts, 8 pants, and 19 dresses by the end of the day. Elanor had told Ally there were 1,833 Keblans in Kebla. Ally worked day and night for a whole week. She only had about half of the clothes done when all of Kebla heard about what Ally was doing and Keblans were lining up out the door of the sewing room for Ally to give some new clothes each day.

Ally earned a ton of what they called “Keb.” Elanor told her that she could turn it into money by saying “Money Keb.” Ally earned hundreds because of her clothes. She made so many extra for all of Kebla. After months she asked Elanor if her parents would be worried. Elanor told her that no time had passed since the tornado stopped. Ally stayed for a long time and after 7 months, she returned home.

“If you want to come back to Kebla, all you have to say is ‘Kebla Ally!’ and you’ll be back,” Elanor explained. Ally returned home to see that nothing had changed. Everything was the same, and it looked as though time had stopped when people were falling in midair. Her phone was ringing, and she told her mom and dad she was OK, and she survived that tornado.

Ally went back to Kebla a lot of times to make more clothes and eventually the Keblans made Ally their queen! She even showed Elanor where she lived.

“Wow, nothing has changed!” Elanor said, looking surprised.

Ally just laughed and enjoyed the fact that she was back home. Years later, Ally was known as a world-famous fashion designer. It was all thanks to the Keblans.
